Email Etiquette: 4 Good Rules to Remember

I’ve received several requests to talk about Email Etiquette!

Let’s quickly touch on four things:

  1. Use strategic, specific Subject Lines that match the content of the email (it just helps everyone!)
  2. Don’t type in all caps- IT’S CONSIDERED YELLING!  🙂
  3. Always check the tone of your email.  Without hearing someone’s voice or seeing their body language, it’s easy to misunderstand and be misunderstood!
  4. Never forward an email unless you have the express permission of the sender.

There are other important things to remember, but that’s a good start for today!

Screencasts: 2 Great Ways to Make Short Videos From Your Screen

Good morning!

A lot of people have asked me how I make the video clips for the Tuesday Tech Tips, so today I wanted to share two cool ways to screencast (aka, making recordings of/from your desktop and/or using your webcam)!

Screencasts come in handy for creating tutorials, read-a-longs, student presentations, lesson reviews for absent students to watch when they return (or from home!), and more!  They can be created by staff AND students!

There are many ways to create a screencast, but these are two of my favorites (both are fast and FREE!).  You can click on the links below or scroll down to see the embedded video:

Note:  Neither of these ways can be used on a Chromebook device, but don’t worry!  For those with Chromebooks who attended a Tech Academy and are ready to explore, check out the Web Store (OUESD) and get the free “Screencastify” app!  It’s similar to Screencast-o-matic  and very user friendly.  Let me know if you run into any problems!
