An Introduction to SAMR

Have you heard of the SAMR model?  This model was developed by Dr. Puentedura and is used by millions of teachers to evaluate how they are incorporating technology into the classroom.  Is technology serving as a “S” (substitution), “A” (augmentation), “M” (modification), or  “R” (redefinition) of traditional methods?

While this model started out as a “ladder” (with Redefinition considered to be the highest goal of every lesson), many teachers now think of the SAMR model as a “pool” because various lessons “float” between the SAMRs.

Jenny Medeiros and Julie Cook present these SAMR examples in various subjects and student engagement
